Be the change that you wish to see in the world - Mahatma Gandhi
Before heading out to a destination I was unfamiliar with, I pulled up the web mapping service application within Google Maps from my phone and entered the address. The very friendly voice began instructing me as to where to go.
As I was driving, I received a call from a friend and as I became absorbed in the conversation, I missed the exit that the voice of Google Maps had instructed me to take. Within seconds, the mapping application reevaluated the situation and the voice gave me new instructions to make it to my destination.
Just like that. No complaining, no finger pointing, no nothing. The application reevaluated the situation, reviewed the next best option and offered it to me. I still ended up at my destination on time.
I thought to myself, “Man! I would be so much more effective if I would just act like this mapping application.” I would never waste my valuable time and energy getting upset or angry or looking to blame someone else for my failures. If I were to accept the disappointment, mistakes and obstacles that come with living my daily life and make the habit of finding the next best option, I can continue to move forward and succeed more quickly - just like Google Maps.
Stop wasting time and energy thinking about your failures or mistakes. Don’t play the ‘blame game’ or look for excuses. Think like Google Maps, find the next best option and take it. Be the change that you wish to see in the world.
It’s working for me, start making it work for you.
I hope you have a great day!
